Anzac Bay House

Perched on the banks of Anzac Bay, Waiheke Island, the Anzac Bay House is a home truly tailor made for its setting. Nestled in to the steep south-facing bank, clean, linear forms contrast with the soft rolling banks of the bay below, with a design and material palette drawing inspiration from the surrounding landscape – think dark stained cedar, local rock, and white render.

On approach from the street, a linear pathway takes you to the front door, where you are met with an entry courtyard that pays homage to the lush greenery that surrounds the property. From there, the pathway cascades down to the glass living space, lined with floor-to-ceiling glass windows that lead the eye straight to the stunning vistas of Anzac Bay. Separate bedroom and living wings meet the client’s brief for a strong, resolved, and functional home designed with modern family life in mind.

With rigorous attention to site planning, layout, and crisp construction detailing, Deuchrass Architects created a bayside oasis with an unparalleled sense of solidity, simplicity, and connection to its site.
